But harsh words stir up anger. 2The tongue of the wise makes knowledge look good.
But the mouth of a fool pours out foolishness. 3The eyes of the LORD are everywhere.
They watch both the evil and the good. 4A gentle tongue is a tree of life.
But a twisted tongue crushes the spirit. 5A fool won't accept his father's discipline.
But whoever listens to correction is wise. 6There is great treasure in the house of those who do right.

How much more the hearts of people!a 12A mocker doesn't like to be corrected.
He won't go to the wise for advice. 13A happy heart makes the face cheerful.
But a sad heart crushes the spirit. 14A heart that understands looks for knowledge.
But the mouth of a fool feeds on foolishness. 15Every day is hard for those who are mistreated.
But a cheerful heart has a feast that never ends. 16A little with the fear of the LORD is better
than great treasure with trouble. 17A plate of vegetables where there is love is better
than a fattened ox where there is hatred. 18A hot-tempered man stirs up fights.
But a man who is slow to anger calms an argument. 19The way of a lazy person is like a hedge of thorns.

But whoever hates bribes will live. 28The heart of a person who does right thinks before answering.
But the mouth of the wicked spills out evil. 29The LORD is far from the wicked.
But he hears the prayer of those who do right. 30Bright eyes make the heart glad.
Good news makes the bones healthy. 31Whoever listens to correction that gives life
will live among the wise. 32Whoever ignores discipline hates himself.
But whoever listens to correction gains understanding. 33The fear of the LORD teaches wisdom.
And being humble comes before honor.
