1Then the LORD called to Moses. He spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting. He said, 2"Speak to the Israelites and tell them this: When any of you brings an offering to the LORD, you may bring an animal from the herd or the flock as your offering. 3If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he is to offer a male with no defects. He must bring it to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, so that it will be accepted before the LORD. 4He is to lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, so that it will be accepted in his place to make atonement for him.a 5He must kill the young bull before the LORD. Then Aaron's sons the priests are to offer the blood. They are to splash it on all sides of the altar at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. 6Next, he is to skin the burnt offering and cut it into pieces. 7The sons of Aaron the priest are to put fire on the altar. They are to lay wood on the fire. 8Then Aaron's sons the priests are to lay out the pieces on the burning wood on the altar. This includes the head and the fat. 9The inner parts and the legs must be washed with water. Then the priest is to burn all of it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, a food offering. Its smell pleases the LORD. 10But if someone's burnt offering is from the flock, from the sheep or the goats, he is to offer a male with no defects. 11He must kill it on the north side of the altar before the LORD. Then Aaron's sons the priests are to splash its blood on all sides of the altar. 12He is to cut the animal into pieces. The priest is to lay them out on the burning wood on the altar. This includes the head and the fat. 13The inner parts and the legs must be washed with water. Then the priest is to offer all of it and burn it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, a food offering. Its smell pleases the LORD. 14But if someone's burnt offering to the LORD is a bird, he is to offer a dove or a young pigeon. 15Then the priest is to bring it to the altar. He is to twist off its head and burn it on the altar. Its blood is to be drained out on the side of the altar. 16He is to take out the bird's crop and what is in it. He is to throw it on the east side of the altar, where the ashes are.b 17He is to tear it open by its wings, but not tear it all the way apart. Then the priest is to burn it on the burning wood on the altar. It is a burnt offering, a food offering. Its smell pleases the LORD.
