1Get up and shine, for your light has come!
The glory of the LORD is rising on you.
2For look, darkness covers the earth.
Thick darkness is over the peoples.
But the LORD will rise on you.
His glory will appear over you.
3Nations will come to your light.
Kings will come to the brightness of your sunrise.
4Look up and look all around.
They are all gathering and coming to you.
Your sons will come from far away.
Your daughters will be carried in people's arms.
5Then you will look and your face will shine.
Your heart will pound and be full of joy.
For the riches of the sea will be brought to you.
The wealth of the nations will come to you.
6Long lines of camels will cover your land,
young camels from Midian and Ephah.
All the people from Sheba will come.
They will bring gold and incense.
They will tell how great the LORD is.
7All the flocks of Kedar will be gathered to you.
The rams of Nebaioth will serve you.
They will be accepted as offerings on my altar.
I will make my glorious house beautiful.
8Who are these that fly along like clouds,
like doves flying home to their nests?
9The islands will surely wait for me.
The ships of Tarshish will lead the way.
They will bring your children from far away,
with their silver and gold.
They will do it to honor the LORD your God,
the Holy One of Israel,
for he has given you glory.
10Foreigners will rebuild your walls.
Their kings will serve you.
In my anger I struck you.
But in my kindness I will show you mercy.
11Your gates will always stay open.
They will never be shut, day or night.
Then the wealth of the nations can be brought to you.
Their kings will be led in as a parade.
12For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish.
It will be completely destroyed.
13The glory of Lebanon will come to you.
Its cypress, elm, and boxwood trees will come together.
They will make my holy place beautiful.
I will bring glory to the place where my feet rest.
14The sons of those who were cruel to you
will come and bow down to you.
All who looked down on you
will fall on their faces at your feet.
They will call you the City of the LORD,
the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
15You have been forsaken and hated.
No one would even travel through you.
But I will make you a city to be proud of forever.
You will be a joy for all generations.
16You will drink the milk of nations.
You will nurse at the breasts of kings.
Then you will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior.
I am your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
17I will bring you gold instead of bronze.
I will bring silver instead of iron.
I will bring bronze instead of wood,
and iron instead of stones.
I will make peace your governor.
I will make what is right your ruler.
18No one will hear of violence in your land anymore.
There will be no ruin or destruction inside your borders.
You will name your walls Salvation.
You will name your gates Praise.
19The sun will no longer be your light by day.
The moon will no longer shine on your night.
For the LORD will be your light forever.
Your God will be your glory.
20Your sun will never set again.
Your moon will not grow smaller.
For the LORD will be your light forever.
Your days of sadness will end.
21Then all your people will be righteous.
The land will belong to them forever.
They are the branch I planted,
the work of my hands,
so that I may be glorified.
22The least of you will become a thousand.
The smallest will become a mighty nation.
I am the LORD.
When the time is right, I will make it happen quickly.
