1Return, Israel, to the LORD your God.
Your sin has made you stumble. 2Bring your words of confession
and return to the LORD.
Say to him,
"Take away all our sin.
Receive us with grace,
so that we may offer the fruit of our lips. 3Assyria will not save us.
We will not ride on horses.
We will never again say, 'Our gods!'
to the work of our own hands.
For in you the fatherless find mercy." 4I will heal them of their turning away from me.
I will love them freely,
for my anger has turned away from them. 5I will be like the dew to Israel.
He will bloom like the lily.
He will send down roots like the cedars of Lebanon. 6His young branches will spread out.
His beauty will be like the olive tree.
His sweet smell will be like the cedars of Lebanon. 7People will come back and live in his shade.
They will grow grain
and bloom like the vine.
His fame will be like the wine of Lebanon. 8Ephraim, what more do I have to do with idols?
I am the one who answers him and watches over him.
I am like a green cypress tree.
Your fruit comes from me. 9Whoever is wise, let him understand these things.
Whoever has good sense, let him know them.
For the ways of the LORD are right.
The righteous walk in them,
but the rebels stumble in them.
