1Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. 2Don't forget to welcome strangers into your home. By doing this, some people have welcomed angels without knowing it. 3Remember those in prison as if you were in chains with them. Remember those who are treated badly as if you were suffering with them. 4Everyone should honor marriage. Husbands and wives should keep their marriage bed pure. God will judge those who are sexually immoral and those who commit adultery. 5Don't let the love of money rule your life. Be happy with what you have. God has said, "I will never leave you. I will never forsake you." 6So we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper. I will not be afraid. What can people do to me?" 7Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think about how their lives turned out. Then copy their faith. 8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. 9Don't be pulled away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for your heart to be made strong by grace. It is not made strong by rules about food. Those rules don't help the people who follow them. 10We have an altar. Those who serve at the tabernacle have no right to eat from it. 11The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Holy Place as a sacrifice for sin. But the bodies of the animals are burned outside the camp. 12So Jesus also suffered outside the city gate. He did it to make the people holy by his own blood. 13So let's go to him outside the camp. Let's carry the shame he carried. 14Here on earth we don't have a city that lasts forever. We are looking for the city that is coming. 15So through Jesus, let's always offer God a sacrifice of praise. That sacrifice is the fruit of lips that speak out his name. 16And don't forget to do good and to share with others. God is pleased with sacrifices like these. 17Obey your leaders and follow them. They watch over your souls, and they will have to explain to God how they did it. Let them lead with joy and not with sadness. Sadness would not help you at all. 18Pray for us. We are sure that our conscience is clear. We want to live in a good and honest way in everything. 19I beg you even more to pray that I can come back to you soon. 20God is the God of peace. Through the blood of the covenant that lasts forever, he brought our Lord Jesus back from the dead. Jesus is the great Shepherd of the sheep. 21May God give you every good thing you need to do what he wants. And may he do in us what pleases him, through Jesus Christ. Glory to him forever and ever. Amen. 22Brothers and sisters, I urge you to be patient with my words of encouragement. I have written you only a short letter. 23I want you to know that our brother Timothy has been let out of prison. If he gets here soon, I'll bring him with me when I come to see you. 24Say hello to all your leaders and all of God's people. Those from Italy send you their greetings. 25May grace be with all of you.
