¹The word of the LORD came to me again. He said, ²"Son of man, turn your face toward Mount Seir. Prophesy against it. ³Tell it that this is what the Lord GOD says: Look, I am against you, Mount Seir. I will reach out my hand against you. I will make you an empty wasteland. ⁴I will turn your cities into ruins. You will become an empty waste. Then you will know that I am the LORD. ⁵Because you held on to a hatred from long ago, and because you handed the Israelites over to the sword when disaster struck them, at the time of their final punishment, ⁶So as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I will hand you over to bloodshed. It will chase you. You did not hate bloodshed, so bloodshed will chase you. ⁷I will make Mount Seir an empty wasteland. I will cut off from it all who come and go. ⁸I will fill its mountains with the dead. Those killed by the sword will fall on your hills. They will fall in your valleys and in all your ravines. ⁹I will make you a wasteland forever. No one will live in your cities. Then you will know that I am the LORD. ¹⁰Because you said, 'These two nations and lands will be ours. We will take them for our own,' even though the LORD was there, ¹¹So as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I will treat you with the same anger and jealousy you showed in your hatred for them. And I will make myself known among them when I judge you. ¹²Then you will know that I, the LORD, have heard every scornful word you spoke against the mountains of Israel. You said, 'They are ruined! They are given to us to eat up!' ¹³You bragged against me with your mouth. You said word after word against me. I heard it myself! ¹⁴This is what the Lord GOD says: While the whole earth is glad, I will make you an empty waste. ¹⁵You were glad when the inheritance of the people of Israel was ruined. So I will do the same to you. You will become a wasteland, Mount Seir. All of Edom will too. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
