1Then the LORD gave me this message. He said, 2"Son of man, turn your face against the Ammonites. Prophesy against them. 3Tell the Ammonites to hear the word of the Lord GOD. This is what the Lord GOD says: 'You shouted, "Aha!" over my temple when it was made unclean. You shouted it over the land of Israel when it was ruined. You shouted it over the people of Judah when they were taken away as captives. 4So I will give you to the people of the East. They will own you. They will set up their camps among you and pitch their tents there. They will eat your fruit and drink your milk. 5I will turn Rabbah into a field for camels. I will make Ammon a resting place for sheep. Then you will know that I am the LORD.' 6For this is what the Lord GOD says: 'You clapped your hands and stamped your feet. You were glad about what happened to the land of Israel. Your heart was full of scorn. 7So I will reach out my hand against you. I will give you to the nations to rob. I will cut you off from the peoples. I will wipe you out from the countries. I will destroy you. Then you will know that I am the LORD.' 8This is what the Lord GOD says: 'Because Moab and Seir said, "Look, the people of Judah are just like all the other nations," 9So I will open up the side of Moab to attack. I will start with its border towns: Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim. These towns are the glory of the land. 10I will give Moab, along with the Ammonites, to the people of the East. They will own it. Then the Ammonites will no longer be remembered among the nations. 11So I will punish Moab. Then they will know that I am the LORD.' 12This is what the Lord GOD says: 'Edom took revenge on the people of Judah. By doing that, Edom became very guilty. 13So this is what the Lord GOD says: I will reach out my hand against Edom. I will wipe out its people and its animals. I will make it a wasteland. From Teman to Dedan, they will be killed by the sword. 14I will take revenge on Edom by the hand of my people Israel. They will deal with Edom as my anger and fury deserve. Then Edom will know what my revenge is like, declares the Lord GOD.' 15This is what the Lord GOD says: 'The Philistines acted out of revenge. They took revenge with hatred in their hearts. They wanted to destroy Judah because of their hatred from long ago. 16So this is what the Lord GOD says: Look, I will reach out my hand against the Philistines. I will wipe out the Cherethites. I will destroy the people who are left along the coast. 17I will take great revenge on them. I will punish them in my fury. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I take my revenge on them.'"
