1Then Moses gathered the whole community of Israel. He said to them, "These are the things the LORD has commanded you to do. 2For six days work may be done. But the seventh day is to be your holy day. It is a Sabbath of complete rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on that day must be put to death. 3Do not light a fire in any of your homes on the Sabbath day." 4Moses also said to the whole community of Israel, "This is what the LORD has commanded. 5Take an offering from among you for the LORD. Let everyone whose heart is willing bring an offering to the LORD: gold, silver, and bronze; 6blue, purple, and scarlet yarn; fine linen and goat hair; 7ram skins dyed red and fine leather; acacia wood; 8olive oil for the lamps; spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet-smelling incense; 9and onyx stones and other gems to be set on the ephod and the breastpiece. 10Let every skilled worker among you come. Let them make everything the LORD has commanded. 11They will make the tabernacle with its tent and covering. They will make its clasps and frames, its crossbars, posts, and bases. 12They will make the ark with its poles and mercy seat. They will make the veil that hides it. 13They will make the table with its poles and all its tools, and the Bread of the Presence. 14They will make the lampstand for light with its tools and lamps, and the oil for the light. 15They will make the altar of incense with its poles, the anointing oil, and the sweet-smelling incense. They will make the curtain for the doorway at the entrance of the tabernacle. 16They will make the altar of burnt offering with its bronze grate, its poles, and all its tools. They will make the basin with its stand. 17They will make the curtains of the courtyard with its posts and bases. They will make the curtain for the gate of the courtyard. 18They will make the tent pegs for the tabernacle and for the courtyard, along with their ropes. 19And they will make the woven clothes for serving in the holy place. These are the holy clothes for Aaron the priest and the clothes for his sons to serve as priests." 20Then the whole community of Israel left Moses. 21Everyone whose heart moved him came. Everyone whose spirit made him willing came too. They brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the Tent of Meeting. It was for all its services and for the holy clothes. 22So all who had willing hearts came, both men and women. They brought pins and earrings, rings and necklaces, and all kinds of gold jewelry. They all brought their gold as a wave offering to the LORD. 23Some had blue, purple, or scarlet yarn, or fine linen. Others had goat hair, ram skins dyed red, or things made of fine leather. Everyone who had these things brought them. 24All who could give silver or bronze brought it as a gift to the LORD. Everyone who had acacia wood for any part of the work brought it too. 25Every skilled woman spun thread with her hands. She brought what she had spun: blue, purple, or scarlet yarn, or fine linen. 26And all the skilled women whose hearts were moved spun the goat hair. 27The leaders brought onyx stones and other gems to set on the ephod and the breastpiece. 28They also brought spices and olive oil. These were for the light, for the anointing oil, and for the sweet-smelling incense. 29So all the Israelite men and women whose hearts moved them brought a gift to the LORD. They gave it freely. It was for all the work the LORD had commanded them through Moses to do. 30Then Moses said to the Israelites, "See, the LORD has chosen Bezalel by name. He is the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 31The LORD has filled him with the Spirit of God. He has given him skill, ability, and knowledge in all kinds of crafts. 32He can design works of art in gold, silver, and bronze. 33He can cut gems for settings and carve wood. He can be a master of every kind of artistic craft. 34The LORD has given both him and Oholiab the ability to teach others. Oholiab is the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. 35The LORD has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work. They can carve, design, and embroider with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and fine linen. They can weave. They are artists who can design every kind of craft.
