1Moses was the man of God. This is the blessing he spoke over the Israelites before he died. 2He said,
"The LORD came from Sinai.
He rose like the sun on us from Seir.
He shone out from Mount Paran.
He came with countless holy ones.
Flaming fire was at his right hand.
3Surely you love the people.
All the holy ones are in your hand.
They sit down at your feet.
Each one receives your words,
4the law Moses gave us.
It belongs to the people of Jacob.
5So the LORD became King in Jeshurun.
The leaders of the people gathered.
The tribes of Israel came together.
6Let Reuben live and not die.
And do not let his men be few."
7Moses said this about Judah:
"LORD, hear the cry of Judah.
Bring him to his people.
With his own hands he fights for himself.
But may you help him against his enemies."
8Moses said about Levi:
"Give your Thummim to Levi.
Give your Urim to your faithful one.
You tested him at Massah.
You argued with him at the waters of Meribah.a
9He said about his father and mother,
'I do not think about them.'
He paid no attention to his brothers.
He did not know his own sons.
For he kept your word.
He guarded your covenant.
10He will teach your rules to Jacob
and your law to Israel.
He will put incense in front of you.
He will put whole burnt offerings on your altar.
11Bless all he has, LORD.
Accept the work of his hands.
Crush the hips of those who rise against him.
Crush his enemies so they can never rise again."
12Moses said about Benjamin:
"May the one the LORD loves rest safely in him.
God protects him all day long.
He rests on God's shoulders."
13Moses said about Joseph:
"May the LORD bless his land
with the precious dew from heaven above
and the deep waters that lie below,
14with the rich harvest the sun brings
and the plentiful crops of each season,
15with the best things of the ancient mountains
and the riches of the hills that last forever,
16with the best gifts of the land and all that fills it,
and with the kindness of the one who lived in the burning bush.
May these rest on the head of Joseph.
May they be a crown on the brow of the prince among his brothers.
17He is as great as a firstborn bull.
His horns are like the horns of a wild ox.
With them he will gore the nations,
even to the ends of the earth.
So are the tens of thousands of Ephraim.
So are the thousands of Manasseh."
18Moses said about Zebulun:
"Be glad, Zebulun, when you go out.
And be glad, Issachar, in your tents.
19They will call the peoples to a mountain.
There they will offer right sacrifices.
For they will feast on the riches of the seas
and the hidden treasures in the sand."
20Moses said about Gad:
"Blessed is the one who makes Gad's land larger!
Gad lies down like a lion.
He tears off an arm or a head.
21He chose the best land for himself.
A ruler's share was saved for him there.
He came with the leaders of the people.
He carried out the LORD's justice
and his laws for Israel."
22Moses said about Dan:
"Dan is a lion's cub.
He leaps out of Bashan."
23Moses said about Naphtali:
"Naphtali has plenty of favor.
He is full of the LORD's blessing.
He will take the sea and the south for his own."
24Moses said about Asher:
"May Asher be the most blessed of the sons.
May his brothers like him best.
May he dip his foot in olive oil.
25May the bars of your gates be iron and bronze.
May your strength last as long as your days."
26"There is no one like the God of Jeshurun.
He rides across the heavens to help you.
He rides on the clouds in his majesty.
27The eternal God is your home.
Underneath you are his arms that last forever.
He drives out the enemy in front of you.
He gives the command, 'Destroy him!'
28So Israel lives in safety.
Jacob's spring lives without trouble
in a land of grain and new wine.
There even the skies drip with dew.
29Blessed are you, Israel!
Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD?
He is the shield that protects you.
He is the sword you boast in.
Your enemies will shrink back from you.
You will walk on their high places."
