1First of all, then, I urge you to pray for everyone. Ask God for what they need. Pray for them, speak up for them, and give thanks for them. 2Pray for kings and all who are in charge. Then we can live calm and quiet lives. We can live in a way that honors God and is worthy of respect. 3This is good, and it pleases God our Savior. 4He wants everyone to be saved and to come to know the truth. 5For there is one God. And there is one go-between for God and people. He is the man Christ Jesus. 6He gave himself as the price to set everyone free. This was the message God gave at just the right time. 7That is why I was chosen to be a preacher and an apostle. I was chosen to be a faithful and true teacher of the Gentiles. I am telling the truth. I am not lying about anything. 8So everywhere, I want the men to pray. I want them to lift up holy hands without anger or arguing. 9In the same way, I want the women to dress in clothes that are proper. They should dress modestly and with self-control. Their beauty should not come from braided hair, gold, pearls, or costly clothes. 10Instead, it should come from good deeds. That is right for women who say they worship God. 11A woman should learn quietly and fully submit. 12I do not allow a woman to teach a man or to have authority over a man. She should stay quiet. 13For Adam was made first, and then Eve. 14And Adam was not the one who was tricked. It was the woman who was tricked and fell into sin. 15But women will be saved through having children, if they keep on in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.
