1Suppose one of you has a complaint against another believer. How dare he take it to court in front of people who are not right with God! He should take it to God's people instead! 2Don't you know that God's people will judge the world? And if you will judge the world, can't you judge small cases? 3Don't you know that we will judge angels? Then surely we can judge the things of this life! 4So if you need to settle everyday problems, why do you choose judges who are not respected in the church? 5I say this to shame you. Is there really no one among you wise enough to settle a fight between believers? 6Instead, one believer takes another to court. And this happens in front of people who don't believe! 7Just having lawsuits among you means you have already lost badly. Why not just let others do you wrong? Why not just let them cheat you? 8Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong. And you do it to your own brothers and sisters! 9Don't you know that wicked people will not inherit the kingdom of God? Don't be fooled. Think of those who are sexually immoral, those who worship idols, and those who commit adultery. Think of men who take part in homosexual acts, either by giving in to them or by doing them. 10Think of thieves, greedy people, and drunks. Think of people who curse others and of cheaters. None of these people will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed. You were made holy. You were made right with God. This was done in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 12"I am allowed to do anything." But not everything is good for you. "I am allowed to do anything." But I will not let anything control me. 13"Food is for the stomach, and the stomach is for food." But God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual sin. It is meant for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body. 14By his power God raised the Lord from the dead. And he will raise us too. 15Don't you know that your bodies are parts of Christ's body? So should I take the parts of Christ and join them to a prostitute? Never! 16Don't you know that a man who joins himself to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh." 17But the one who joins himself to the Lord becomes one with him in spirit. 18Run away from sexual sin! Every other sin a person does is outside his body. But the one who sins sexually sins against his own body. 19Don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit? The Spirit lives in you, and you received him from God. You do not belong to yourselves. 20You were bought at a price. So bring glory to God with your body.
